Leadership
Patricia A. Bush
Pat has been the executive director for HCLC since February, 2008. However, this is not her first stint as a director. She retired in December, 2005, as the executive director of the Scotland County Literacy Council in Laurinburg, NC, after serving 14 years in that position, when she moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC.
In the summer of 2007 she was asked to become a board member for the Horry County Literacy Council. Literacy, being a passion of hers, she agreed to serve. In February, when the current director made a decision to depart, the board promoted her to the position of "interim" executive director.
She is devoted to making Horry County a more literate community and will do whatever it takes to promote the literacy efforts in the state of South Carolina.
Patricia A. Santaniello
Pat has been a member of the Board of Directors and held the position as Treasurer with the Literacy Council.
She also tutors adult students one-on-one in basic reading and comprehension skills, English as a second language in group settings and most recently teaching students with Dyslexia to read using the Barton Reading System.
Currently, as Program Coordinator, her role is to facilitate tutor/student matching through assessment evaluation and to monitor and record the progress of each student with pre and post testing procedures.
